The electrifying moment we’ve all been waiting for has finally arrived (except for PS4 and Vita players, of course). The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth launched today at 10 am PST and is currently now available for purchase through Steam. For those of you familiar with The Binding of Isaac, you might be wondering just how it is the game could get any better. Let’s take a look.
“Afterbirth” is considered to be a mega-DLC given its monstrous size. It adds another 100+ hours to an already time-consuming game full of grotesque delights and challenges. The new game will feature multiplayer aspects like Daily Runs where fanatics can compete for high scores and best times on leaderboards (as if we weren’t already spending enough time on The Binding of Isaac as it is). Other perks include:
- 10 new challenges
- 1000+ new rooms
- 1 new playable character
- 120 new items
- 8 new bosses
- 25+ new enemies
This is only to name a few. Other goodies like new item types, new music, new seed codes, new room types, and more await you in The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth. There will also be a new mode called the Greed Mode which features a focus on the risk-reward dynamic of the game. Edmund McMillen himself (also creator of Super Meat Boy) admits to not being able to list all of the updates, given how many there are.
But Wait… Only on Steam?
Don’t panic, PS4 enthusiasts. There may not be a release date yet for The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth on PS4 and Vita, but that doesn’t mean it’s not coming. It was demoed by one of the team members at PAX on the PS4, so it can’t be too far off. For PC players, if you haven’t experienced The Binding of Isaac in any of its glory yet, do so. It’s a timeless game full of gory, addicting fun that you’ll find you can’t easily put down. Head on over to Steam to make it happen.
